The team here at Plantstore are passionate about plants. We love them, we care for them, we nurture them... occasionally, we even dream about them! We love to share their amazing forms and their unusual colours - bright, brilliant, occasionally bizarre and always beautiful.
Plant Store's story starts in 2007, when we began retailing plants from a small corner of the Habitat Furniture Store on Grafton Street. From the beginning, we were delighted with the interaction that customers had with our plants - the ‘wow isn’t that amazing’ factor! What better job than to talk about your passion and have someone share it with you. Sales increased and to our delight, our little corner became a little bit larger. Then came the demise of Habitat Ireland. We were on our own two feet by then, and ever since, we have continued to bring our amazing plants and flowers to our customers from our new shop in Tallaght, and through our network of retail partners, Supervalu, EuroSpar, Spar and many other independent shops around Dublin.
We specialise in all sorts of wonderful plants, from magnificent outdoor specimens for the garden lover to health-enhancing indoor plants for the house proud and frankly, everything in between too. We recognise that some people are more green fingered than others and some are more challenged with living space than others... but whatever your background and environment, we've got the perfect plant for you!
Our plants really do make a perfect gift for someone special (or maybe someone you might like to MAKE special!)
Claire began working with plants and flowers in Woodstown Nurseries in 1995. From the beginning she was fascinated by the plants and flowers she grew from seed. To this day her favourite flower is scented stock. Claire studied Interior Design at Dunloghaire College and afterwards Advanced Floristry at Crumlin College. Flowers arranging is her passion, creating floral designs for every event and occasion. Claire’s wedding flowers are very popular and her reputation is growing as she continues to develop this side of the business with the PlnatStore.ie / FlowerStore.ie
Pat studied horticulture in the Botanic Gardens and afterwards worked on garden projects in Romania, Australia and England. Here he combined both his enchantments, plants and people. He worked for Irish Dept. of Foreign Affairs for many years in Central America and during this time he cultivated an interest in exotic and wonderful plants. After returning to Ireland, Pat set up Plant Store retail shop In Habitat in 2007.
Niall works on the IT for the Plant Store, the “it”, the technology, the “new stuff” - bringing our plants our inspiration to a new audience through social media and e-commerce. Niall has worked for the Plant Store over the past three years, part time at weekends and during the summer months. He’s in his final year studying an Art degree at IADT, Dun Laoghaire. As we say ‘Niall’s a bright kid’ and we think every business needs a Niall to put the ‘it’ in their step.
David (or Daveed, as he's known around here!):
David is an enigmatic French man and, amongst other insightful information, he has taught us to pronounce the vowel in his name correctly, he’s is affectionately known as ‘Daveed’! His family background is in commercial horticulture, growing garden salad crops in his home in Brittany. David manages our plant and flower sales retail customers in the SuperValu, Spar, EuroSpar and Hardware shops.
"Since 2012, Plant Store have been delivering plants to our 'SuperValu' shops in Rathfarnham, Firhouse and Clane as well as 'Spar' Stores around Dublin on a weekly basis. They all have a great range of top quality plants at really affordable prices. There's always a big impact of colour from the plant display in our shop entrances. Our customers are happy and keep coming back for more. We would recommend Plant Store for great plants and great value!" SuperValu
"Hey Pat, Excellent Christmas gifts! Great value and beautiful selection... Very impressed! Thanks again" Emma
"Hello Patrick, my new orchid has been flourishing, as has the one I got off you two years ago at Bloom. It's flowered each year without much attention at all, like you advised! Best of luck and see you next year" Miles
"Hi there, I bought a beautiful bouquet with lillies for mothers day, she was delighted with it! Very reasonable too, for the size of the bunch, and with gift wrapping on too... Thanks Plant Store!" Anne Marie
"Hey Claire, Just wanted to say thanks again for the bespoke setup for the wedding, the bouquets and decorative bits with them just looked fab, made the day perfect, much appreciated! All the best!" Angela
"The plain and simple truth is that I have no clue what I am doing. Pat calls me an "enthusiastic gardener" and he is right. He never uses the term in a derogatory way, but rather in a conspiratorial manner. He also is an enthusiast that helps you create the look you want, without judging, yet with the discerning eye that comes from years of horticultural experience.
The long and the short of it is that the "Plant Store" has plants that you never see elsewhere, along with the old reliables, because they want you to experiment. Regularly during the summer and winter months, I pass their way to see what new bloom may be unearthed that day. I'm a "plant it and see" gardener. Some things work and some don't. But I can always be sure that a new "floret" at the "Plant Store" will pique my curiosity, should a space open up in my garden.
So if you're into herbs, shrubs, annuals, perennials or vines, Pat is sure to have something that you'll like. He'll take you through from azaleas to zinnias. He's "blooming" great." Tom O'Brannagáin
We're Gold, Silver and Bronze medallists in Bloom for the last 6 years! Winning Floral Bloom Awards in the 'Floral Marquee' and the 'Nursery Floral Display' categories and we have to admit, we're a teeny bit proud of ourselves about our little hat trick of medals!
