Peace Lily - Spathiphyllum


 

The "Peace Lily" or "Spathiphyllum" is one of the most popular plants grown and is seen regularly adding a touch of beauty to homes around Ireland. 

Peace lilies are not true lilies at all, but rather a member of the Araceae family.

Its flowers resemble those of the calla lily and the showy part of the flower features a white, hoodlike sheath (known as a spathe) which resembles a white flag of surrender.

The main requirements are space and cold nights (and cold nights are most definitely not a problem in this country!)

Care Instructions: 

  • Enjoys light-medium light exposure but keep away from direct sunlight. 
  • Keep moist (but not too soggy) in the summer and water much less in the winter. 
  • Likes an average temperature of between 10°C-18°C
